Betty-Street-OMalley

Born on July 23, 1926, in her beloved hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, Betty Street O’Malley graced this world with her presence until August 1, 2023, when she peacefully passed away at the age of 97. Betty was a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her.

Betty’s journey began in Nashville, where she attended West End High School, laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning and personal growth. Her dedication to public service was evident as she committed 25 years of her life serving as the esteemed Post Master of the Antioch Post Office until her well-deserved retirement.

In her journey through life, Betty had to bid farewell to her beloved parents, Laura Elizabeth McConnell Covington and Harry L. Covington, as well as her stepmother, Rachel Covington, who had all been instrumental in shaping the person she became.

Betty was blessed with two loving husbands who filled her life with joy and cherished memories: George A. Street and Robert A. O’Malley. She deeply loved them both and carried their memories in her heart until the very end.

A devoted and caring mother, Betty leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion in her children: Carol (Carl) Crews, George (Sheila) Street, and Gordon (Tina) O’Malley. Her nurturing spirit and unconditional love extended to her brother, William H. Covington, and her late brother, Bobby Covington, with whom she shared special bonds.

Betty’s heart was made fuller by the presence of her adored grandchildren: Rex, David, and Daniel. Their laughter and love brightened her days, making her feel truly blessed. Her family continued to grow, and Betty took great pride in the numerous great and great-great-grandchildren who brought endless joy and vitality to her life.

During her final journey, Betty had a dedicated caregiver, Ms. T., who selflessly cared for her, providing comfort and support. Her presence was a source of strength during the later years of Betty’s life.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation hours at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Thursday, August 3, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and on Friday, August 4, from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM. The funeral services will take place immediately after the visitation on Friday. We are grateful to Derek Capello from Northridge Church for serving as the officiant of the service, offering his guidance and support during this difficult time.

Betty Street O’Malley will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community. As we bid farewell to her physical presence, we hold her memory close to our hearts and find solace in the cherished moments we shared.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
