Betty Joe Carter peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 12th, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on March 19th, 1935, in Nashville, Tennessee to James Wright and Laura Estes. She lived a full beautiful life of 89 years being a wonderful and loving woman. Betty was an exceptional daughter, adoring wife, devoted mother, and an irreplaceable sister and friend. Betty had a big heart and had so much dedication and love for her family. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Tennessee Tech University and continued her career at Baptist Hospital. Betty touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Laura Ella Wright Gipson, father, James Henry Wright, stepfather, James Allen Gipson, sisters, Bertha and Pauline Wright, Catherine Carey, Lucille Boggs, Evelyn Hughes and Peggy Glover. brothers, Gilbert and James Edward Wright, daughter, Linda Joyce Fann, grandson, Sean Michael Carter, and daughter-in-law, Sherry Carter.
Betty is survived by her loving daughters, Sharon and Donna Carter, son, George Carter, grandchildren, Kimberly and Penny Fann, Amanda and Terri Carter, Darrick White, Billy Joe and Scoti Carter, great grandchildren, Justin Brachey, Devin, Heather, Miranda, Ashley, Zachary, and Bailey Fann, Sydney White, and Brian Cole. She is also survived by her great great grandchildren Hayden Jones, Arianna, Mika, BJ JR., Chevy, Rosie, Delishia, and Grayson Carter, Bentley Harris, Addie, Duke, and Serenity Fann, Dono van and Johnathan Brown, Grayson and Aurora Fann.
Thank you for teaching us every day to live with our heart and soul, to give everything so that we do not regret anything. Go with God and let Him now enjoy your presence.
Betty was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
In Betty’s memory a visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home and Cremation service Nashville. Interment will follow on Friday, September 20th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery.
