Betty Faye Bentley 82 years of service to the King of Kings (June 21, 1941 – September 6, 2023)
On the longest day of the year in 1941, the sun greeted the arrival of Betty Faye Seiber to Millie Birdie Reeves Seiber & Walter Albert Seiber on Seiber Ridge Road, Hohenwald, TN.
Fiddler Faye (Fidd’lum Five), as her dad called her, graduated from Lewis County High School and went on to work at Life & Casualty Insurance Company in Nashville. Betty married Jerry Bentley on May 21, 1960, when she was only 19 years old. Their marriage lasted 50 years until his death on June 18, 2010.
She worked her whole life in whatever job that provided for the family. Jerry was a businessman and always seemed to get Betty into a new business to run. She ran a country store and an auction house in Lyles, TN.
She was the strongest woman that people ever knew. Whatever the problem, she would press through. Jerry bought a restaurant right next to the bakery where he worked – All the children miss her cheeseburgers and grill-heated honey buns.
Later she cleaned hospitals, even becoming a manager in the business. Finally ending her career 3 months ago cleaning the Tusculum church of Christ building. She would feed the hungry that wandered their way in for something to eat at the restaurant on 8th Avenue.
She is survived by her children, Michael Troy Bentley, Sheila Michelle Towe, Timothy Lynn Bentley, Terry O’Neal Bentley; her sisters Viola Potts, Ludene Carroll, and Shirley Staggs. Betty’s greatest joys were her children & grandchildren with whom she dearly loved: Michael Bentley, Austin Bentley, Josh Towe, Savannah Towe, Nick Towe, Britton Bauer, Susan Bentley, and Ryan Bentley; and great-grandchildren Trace & Brynlee Towe, and Rose Adams.
Funeral services will be conducted by Walt Leaver on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 12:00 noon (visitation 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon) at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. https://www.woodbinefuneralhome.com
