Barbara Fike Robertson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her three daughters on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. She was 84 years old.

Barbara was born Barbara Ann Fike in Florence, Alabama on November 14, 1937 and was the oldest of three children to Alton and Mildred Fike.

She was a gifted soprano who attended Murray State University studying vocal performance. There she met and married Festus G. Robertson, Jr. and raised a family of three daughters in Kentucky, Florida and settling in Nashville, Tennessee.

Barbara had a career as a K-12 music teacher. She returned to college later in life to study computer science and had a second career in information technology.

Barbara used her vocal talent to bless churches that she served alongside her husband, a life-long music minister. Her church home for the last 25 years had been First Baptist Nashville, where she was a faithful member until she relocated to Alabama in 2020. Barbara also developed her artistic passion and talent for painting. She was prolific well into her retirement. Her family’s homes are decorated with much of her art.

Barbara is survived by her three daughters: Gwenn (Joe) Fitzpatrick of Brentwood, TN, Dr. Karen Robertson of Boone, NC, and Lisa (Allen) Bolton of Hoover, AL; six grandchildren, Katherine Smith, Anna Smith, Kelsey (Drew) Granthum, Jeremy (Molly) Bolton, Sean Fitzpatrick and Melodie (Ryan) Pitzer; three great-grandchildren, Elliott and Francie Bolton and Judah Pitzer. She has several cousins, nieces and nephews across Tennessee and Alabama.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 44 years, Fes, and her two brothers Kenneth and David Fike.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on August 13, 2022 at 3:00 pm with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 2:00, with interment following in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The Reverend Tony Rankin will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Allen Bolton, Joe Fitzpatrick, Jeremy Bolton, Sean Fitzpatrick, Ryan Pitzer and Drew Granthum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to The American Heart Association or the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church Nashville.
