Barbara Martin Craighead was born on September 7, 1944 in Gainesboro, TN and she passed away in Gainesboro on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the age of 81.

Barbara was the daughter of James Henry Martin and Eva Mae Hensley Martin. She was a member of Flynns Creek Church of Christ and a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 59 years and the love of her life, James E Craighead; brothers, Herman Martin, Charlie Martin, Raymond (UT) Martin, sisters, Opal Kernell, Lucy Wilson, Daisy Jenkins, Mary (Zeke) Frizzell.

Survived by: son Chris (Carey) Craighead of Lebanon TN; daughters Karen (Mickey) Smith of Gainesboro TN and Amy Vance of Denver CO; brother Hugh (Linda) Martin of Gainesboro TN; Grandchildren: Rachel (Rob) Craighead Riley, Kyle (Logan) Craighead. Katie (Stephen) Brown Stewart, Kyleigh (Dale Holt) Head, Dylan (Jessica) Craighead, Gabrielle Vance Pauls (Tyler), Cadence Vance, Whitney Hight, Dalton Hight and Alyssa Hight. 16 great grandchildren also survive along with many other special nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 26, 2026, 3 to 7 pm and 10 to 1 pm on Monday at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 27, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Mike Fox officiating. Burial will follow in John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Stephen Stewart, Kyle Craighead, Dalton Hight, Dale Holt, Ronnie Martin and Rob Riley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Britton, Dillon Craighead, James Martin, Bill Jenkins, David Martin and Clay Forkum.

Memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by contacting the funeral home.
