Baby Ezra Jordan Scruggs, beloved son of Sydney Scruggs, was born on September 20, 2025, and passed away on October 10, 2025, after spending his entire life surrounded by love in the NICU. Though his time with family was brief, Ezra’s life was filled with meaning, purpose, and immeasurable love.
During his twenty days, Ezra touched the hearts of everyone who met him. His strength, courage, and gentle spirit were a testament to the power of love and faith. He brought his family together in hope and prayer, reminding all who loved him that even the smallest life can make the greatest impact. Ezra’s presence reached far beyond his family — he even touched the hearts of the nurses and doctors who cared for him so tenderly in the NICU, inspiring them all the way until his last breath.
Ezra will be forever cherished by his devoted mother, Sydney Chiyoko Scruggs; his loving Nonna, Chiyoko Scruggs, and Grandfather, Clay Scruggs Sr.; his Great Grandmother Ruth Hara; his Uncles and Aunts, CJ and Dora Scruggs, and Brandon Scruggs; his Great Aunt and Uncle, Sandra and Tracy Meggs; and his Cousin, Tanesha Scruggs. Each of them holds Ezra’s memory close to their hearts and finds comfort knowing he rests now in perfect peace.
As the family reflects on Ezra’s life, they take solace in the promise of God’s word:
