The long and vivacious life of Azelea Hyde Kennedy came to an earthly end on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. She slipped away peacefully at NHC Place Sumner.
Azalea was born in Graham County North Carolina on September 16th 1926.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Artie Hyde. She was married to her husband Bill Kennedy for 56 years before his death in August 2003. She was preceded in death by four brothers (Monroe, Willard, Troy, and Lonnie) and two sisters (Leah and Hattie).
Azalea is survived by her daughter Donna Speich (Garry), two granddaughters (Amy Robertson (Brian) and Lori-Schirg (Brandon), three grandsons (Ben and Nathan Schirg and Samuel Robertson, one brother Ronnie Hyde of Charlotte, North Carolina and 24 nieces and nephews.
Azalea was employed at Sears on Lafayette in Nashville for 32 years. She enjoyed her many days selling girls fashions. She was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class for over 50 years.
She loved working in the yard, taking care of her home, attending church activities, and watching the Titans. She was a perfectionist and did everything just the way she liked it. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them. She was devoted to her mother and expressed great love for her.
A gathering of family & friends for Azalea will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
