Arthur Thomas “Tom” Brown, age 91, passed away on July 12, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born on August 18, 1934, in Nashville, Tennessee, Tom was a lifelong man of faith, family, and service. He graduated from Howard High School in 1952 and married the love of his life, Shirley Jewell Brown, on February 19, 1956.
Tom was a devoted member of Green Street Church of Christ and Lebanon Road Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, Vanderbilt commodores, while watching them play football, basketball, and baseball. He especially cherished family gatherings and often spoke fondly of his wife’s cooking, saying that nobody could cook quite like she could.
Above all, Tom’s life was centered on serving God and caring for his family. His loving spirit, strong values, and dedication to those he loved will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Kerry Brown; daughters, Mary Beth Sullivan and Deborah Joan Levering; son, Darin Lee Brown; sister, Betty Bates McClendon; brother, William Wayne Brown; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Jewell Brown; his father, Alton B. Brown Sr; his mother, Mary Florence Brown; and his brother, Alton B. Brown Jr.
His memory will be cherished forever by those who knew and loved him.
