Anne Elizabeth (Wall) Christeson, 74, passed away in the peaceful hands of God on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Christeson, and by the extended family of Thomas P. Wall, Jr., of Nashville.

She graduated as valedictorian from St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville, and she went on to Vanderbilt University where she graduated summa cum laude and Founder’s Medalist. She was awarded a Woodrow Wilson fellowship to continue her studies, and a Guggenheim.

When she was only 12 years old, she was made a regular member of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra as principal harpist. She also played for the Knoxville Symphony and the Knoxville Opera Company as principal. She was often asked to solo with the orchestra. and she performed all the major harp concertos.

She retired from playing, and spent the next 29 years teaching Latin, French, and English at Montgomery Bell Academy. She was a country girl at heart and with her husband Wayne raised horses for 30 years on a farm in Leiper’s Fork.

In addition to Wayne, special friends Edward Gaffney of Nashville and Margaretta Howe of Woodstock, Vermont survive Anne.

A gathering of family and friends for Anne was held Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Ave North, Nashville, TN 37203. A funeral mass will occur Friday, October 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Cathedral of the Incarnation, 2015 West End Ave., Nashville, TN 37203.
