Almus Raymer, age 101 of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away April 17th, 2026.
Almus is preceded in death by loving wife, Opal Raymer; parents, Jessie and Lonnie Raymer; sisters, Myrtle; Dot; and Gladis; and brother, Cecil.
He was born March 29th, 1925 in Cheatham County, and was active duty in the United States Army as an infantryman in Company C, 350th Infantry from August 4th, 1943 until February 24th, 1945. He married Opal in 1948 and they had five children; Larry, Kathy, Sandra, Danny, and Jeffery Sr.
The city of Smyrna recognized Almus on his 100th birthday – with Councilman Steve Sullivan presenting him with a key to the city. The church also recognized him, with Congresswoman Dawn White presenting him with the Tennessee state flag, which was flown for one day.
Almus is survived children, Larry Raymer; Kathy Phipps; Sandra Beard; Danny Raymer; and Jeff Raymer; grandchildren, Jeff Raymer Jr.; Crystal Brooks; Chris Beard; Kristy Houglum; Jennifer Elliott; and Brittney Raymer; Ronnie Koontz; Nicole Koontz; Bobby Koontz; great-grandchildren, Hunter Mathis; Jonathan Brooks; Mackenzie Brooks; Brendan Beard; Brandy Yealock; Makaylen Elliott; Gabriel Elliott; Christian Elliott; and brother, Buford Raymer.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 27th from 9AM until the hour of Service at 11AM at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home. https://www.andersonandgarrett.com
Interment will follow at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 1PM.
