A nurse was attacked by a patient at TriStar Centennial Medical Center on Monday, WKRN reports.

Patient Issah Abdallah, 49, was initially supposed to be transported from the hospital to the Metro Cold Weather Shelter. However, Abdallah was asleep when officers arrived so they began to leave.

As the officers were leaving, they were told by a nurse that another nurse was just assaulted. WSMV reports that officers then found Abdallah on the floor and the nurse standing next to him with blood running down his face.

Officers were told that Abdallah struck the nurse in the face with a base plate for a thermometer. The nurse’s injuries required him to receive three stitches.

Abdallah has been charged with trespassing and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

His was booked into the Metro jail on a $10,100 bond.
