Nashville’s Annual Veterans Day Parade to Honor American Heroes on Nov. 11, 2023

Nashville, TN – [Nov. 11th, 2023] – Nashville is set to honor the bravery and sacrifice of America’s military veterans with its annual Veterans Day Parade, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. This year, the parade commemorates the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I, paying tribute to American veterans of all wars.

In 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day, marking it as a day of solemn pride and gratitude for the heroism of those who died in the country’s service. In 1938, it was made a legal holiday dedicated to the cause of world peace.

The 83rd Congress amended the Act of 1938, transforming “Armistice Day” into “Veterans Day” to honor veterans of all American wars, a tradition that continues to this day.

The 2023 Nashville Veterans Day Parade will feature the esteemed 101ST Airborne Division Band leading a procession down Broadway, from 14th Avenue to 1st Avenue. The parade will commence at 11:00 a.m. sharp, symbolizing the exact time the armistice between the Allied nations and Germany took effect, signaling the end of World War I.

This year’s Parade Co-Grand Marshals are a blend of military valor and musical legacy. (RET) Brigadier General Eden Murrie will lead the parade alongside legendary music artist Kid Rock, a multi-platinum award-winning rock ‘n roll icon known for his eclectic blend of musical genres and his dedication to supporting U.S. Armed Forces and charitable causes.

Participants in the parade include Military and National Guard personnel, Antioch High School marching band and ROTC,Veterans, First Responders, Federal, State, and local Officials, Gold Star Families, Blue Star Moms, Red Cross, VetLinx, Operation Stand Down, Shriners, Knights of Columbus, Daughters of the American Revolution, Scouts, JROTC’s, ROTC, and many other organizations from the community.

The public is warmly invited to attend this celebration to honor America’s Veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
