January 2, 2023 – Update: The deceased are identified as Irene Bond, 45, and Geremy Causey, 31, both of Shelby County.
Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the apparent murder/suicide involving a man and woman from West Tennessee who were discovered Monday afternoon inside a room of the DoubleTree Hotel on 4th Avenue North.
The 31-year-old man was found with a semi-automatic pistol near him and had injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His 45-year-old girlfriend was also found fatally shot.
The hotel room access card was last used at 3 a.m. Sunday morning. A hotel staff member discovered the pair at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Efforts are underway to notify family members of both individuals.
