MNPD Reaccredited by Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies

Highlighting the MNPD’s commitment to community engagement, de-escalation, employee wellness and recruiting initiatives, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) today awarded the department Meritorious Advanced Reaccreditation for the next four years.

Chief John Drake and Accreditation Manager Charles Vance appeared virtually before a panel of CALEA commissioners this morning, including Syracuse, New York Police Chief Kenton Buckner, who led the review of the MNPD.

The Nashville Police Department has been continuously accredited since 1994 and was found during a recent assessment to be in compliance with each of 375 internationally accepted standards.

“Maintaining continuous accreditation for the past 27 years signifies that our entire department is committed to professionalism and evolving practices that will best serve Nashville now and into the future,” Chief Drake said.
