(May 17, 2022) – Anthony Lovell Carter, 31, has been identified as the man fatally shot during an altercation at Hickory Hollow Terrace apartment complex Monday afternoon. Carter and friends went to the complex to speak with Tracy Jackson, 26, who lives in an apartment at the location.
Carter wanted to discuss money Jackson owed him. After a discussion about the $100 allegedly owed, Carter and his three friends got in their BMW SUV to leave the complex. While stopped at the gated entrance, Jackson parked behind them in his vehicle. A brief physical altercation ensued before Jackson produced a handgun and opened fire on Carter.
Carter was shot multiple times. His three friends quickly returned fire in self-defense before Jackson fled back to his apartment.
Jackson was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital before being transferred to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Upon his release from the hospital, he will be taken into custody on a criminal homicide warrant.
Carter was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
