Devaunte Hill, the man convicted in the death of nurse Caitlyn Kaufman, has received a sentence of 25 years in prison, according to News Channel 5.

On Wednesday, March 30, 2023, Hill was sentenced by a Nashville judge.

Kaufman was shot while driving on Interstate 440 as she was on her way to work in 2020.

Hill will 100% serve the maximum sentence for the second-degree murder conviction, News Channel 5 reports. Prosecutors sought first-degree murder convictions for both Hill and driver James Cowan, which would have been life sentences.

Although Cowan is in federal custody on separate gun charges, the jury found him not guilty in this case.

The jury found Hill guilty of second degree earlier this year after he admitted at trial to firing the shots during a road rage incident. The 24-year-old Hill will get credit for the two-plus years he has already served while awaiting trial.
