February 5, 2025 – Homicide Unit detectives tonight charged Isaiah Alexander Maston, 30, with this afternoon’s murder of a 40-year-old stranger in the parking lot of the KFC restaurant on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. Work is continuing to notify the victim’s next of kin.
The investigation to this point show that Maston was outside by the entrance of the KFC with his bulldog. The victim and a female friend approached the entrance when the unrestrained dog approached the couple. The victim and Maston engaged in a verbal altercation before the victim and the woman turned and walked away toward Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. Maston then fired multiple gunshots at the victim. He died after being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Maston left the scene and was found a short time later sitting on the steps of a nearby apartment unit by North Precinct Officer Keegan Winchell. Maston was taken into custody without incident. His dog was placed into the care of Metro Animal Control.
Maston is charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault (against the female). His bond is set at $210,000.
