June 24, 2025 – An unrelenting investigation led by MNPD Homicide and Specialized Investigations Division detectives has resulted in Josue Daniel Hernandez-Moxje, 23, being charged with two counts of criminal homicide for the April murders of two men in the woods between Lincoya Bay Apartments and Percy Priest Lake.

Amir Landan Wilkerson, 19, and Jaime Valdez-Garcia, 18, both of Alabaster, Alabama, traveled to Nashville together in Wilkerson’s vehicle on Sunday, April 27. They were found fatally shot in the woods on Monday, April 28.

Lead Homicide Detective Charles Duke and his Specialized Investigations Division colleagues, with assistance from federal ATF and Homeland Security agents, identified Hernandez-Moxje, a native of Honduras, as a suspect. A license plate for a vehicle in which Hernandez-Moxje was believed to be traveling was entered into a law enforcement database. An LPR in Kenner, Louisiana, alerted to the presence of the vehicle in that jurisdiction. Hernandez-Moxje was taken into custody by Kenner authorities on June 6 and held on outstanding Nashville domestic violence, theft and bad check warrants. Evidence found in the vehicle was forensically tested and has been linked to the April 28 murders. In consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, warrants charging Hernandez-Moxje with the two criminal homicide counts were issued on Friday. He was returned to Nashville from Louisiana late today.

This investigation is continuing and additional charges are anticipated.
