Outstanding coordination between a Southeast Precinct officer, Canine Unit partners and MNPD Aviation early Thursday morning led to the arrest of a convicted felon with a gun and bag of narcotics in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Jentri Peebles, 32, was stopped for having an unlawful tint on his windshield. MNPD Aviation observed Peebles flee from the stop, drive into oncoming lanes, and accelerate to speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Peebles’ female passenger, in fear for her own safety, jumped from the moving car after she said he tried to prevent her from exiting the vehicle.
As Peebles fled, officers observed him toss a bag of drugs, and later a firearm, from the car. Both were recovered with assistance from Canine Wick and his partner, Officer Garrett Reingardt.
The vehicle eventually stopped on Preserve Boulevard where Peebles was taken into custody. He was charged with felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, kidnapping, evidence tampering and other gun and drug offenses. He remains jailed on $173,000 bond.
