Specialized Investigations Division detectives arrested Nuzhdar Hamdoun, 28, last week in connection with racially charged graffiti written in chalk on the basketball court within William A. Pitts Park in South Nashville on at least three occasions this month. The graffiti caused community concern.

Detectives used on-line resources to ultimately identify Hamdoun, who lives close to the park. During a conversation between detectives and Hamdoun at his residence today, he admitted to creating the graffiti. Used chalk was found in the back seat of his vehicle.

Hamdoun is charged with vandalizing government property. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $2,000.

The racially charged language was removed by Metro Parks staff after each discovery.
