Male Driver Killed in I-40 Collision

The unidentified male driver of an Oldsmobile Bravada that was stopped on the right shoulder of I-40 East at exit 211B was killed Sunday at approximately 12:25 a.m.

Police say the crash happened after the driver of an eastbound 2023 Nissan Altima, for reasons unknown, left the roadway and struck the SUV which then caught fire.

The driver of the Bravada died at the scene. The medical examiner will work to identify him.

The driver of the Altima, Nicholas Marks, 43, of Smyrna, was critically injured and transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
