Madison Resident Cited For Failure to Yield After Hitting Pedestrian In Crosswalk

October 25, 2022 – The driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer has been charged after hitting a pedestrian utilizing a crosswalk on James Robertson Parkway this morning. James Smallwood, 65, of Madison, was issued a misdemeanor state citation for failure to yield resulting in bodily injury after the pedestrian, Betsy Hueber, 65, was seriously hurt from the crash.

Hueber was crossing at the intersection of 7th Avenue North when she was struck by the Lancer. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Smallwood showed no signs of impairment on the scene and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
