September 29, 2022 – Homicide and TITANS detectives are working to identify the persons responsible for multiple gunshots in the parking lot of Stone Ridge Apartments, 500 Piccadilly Row, shortly before midnight that killed one person and wounded two others, all of whom were in the same vehicle.

The deceased has not yet been positively identified, but may be a 16-year-old. He was riding in the back seat of a Nissan Versa sedan. The 18-year-old driver of the car and a 17-year-old front seat passenger were both wounded, but will recover.

South Precinct officers responding to a shots fired call at the apartment complex found multiple shell casings in the parking lot and damaged vehicles. Moments later, one of the shooting victims called 911 from the Versa, which had fled the parking lot and stopped about a half mile away in the 2500 block of Tree Top Drive. The two front seat victims were rushed to a hospital. The rear seat passenger died at the scene.

The Versa was hit several times by gunfire and struck parked vehicles in the apartment complex parking lot as it was driven away.

Exactly why the victims were at the apartment complex and why they were targeted remains under investigation.
