September 14, 2023 – A German Shepherd was shot and killed by a man at a Nashville park, Metro Nashville Police confirmed on Wednesday.
According to WKRN, the shooting took place on Wednesday morning around 10:30 a.m. in Percy Warner Park’s parking lot.
Police say the German Shepard aggressively ran up to the man as he was exiting his car. Police added that the dog approached the man amid chasing a squirrel. The German Shepard was then shot by the man three times.
The man later admitted to the shooting, telling police he was afraid due to a dog attack involving his brother when he was younger.
The dog’s owner told police the dog was wearing a shock collar but not on a leash during the incident.
Charges were not pressed against the shooter.
No other information has been released at this time.
