A suspected gas leak brought an early morning disruption to a Nashville high school, forcing staff to evacuate before students arrived.
Crews with the Nashville Fire Department responded to John Overton High School around 6:20 a.m. Friday, clearing the building as a precaution. Staff members were escorted outside while firefighters worked to locate the source of the odor.
After investigating, crews determined the smell was coming from outside the building.
During the evacuation, one staff member experienced a medical emergency and was taken to a nearby hospital. Officials with Metro Nashville Public Schools said the cause of that emergency is still unknown.
Fire crews gave the all-clear around 7 a.m., allowing staff to return. Classes proceeded on a normal schedule,
