Outstanding, coordinated police work led to Tuesday’s 5 a.m. arrest of escapee Quandre Beasley, 16, and Tunisia Carey, 22, after a traffic stop in Cartersville, Georgia by Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies. The pair were in Carey’s Nissan Altima. They will be returned to Nashville in the coming days.
Beasley was transported from the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital Monday night after complaining of seizures. When the Fire Department ambulance arrived at Vanderbilt at approximately 9:15 p.m., Beasley, who was handcuffed in the front, ran from the ambulance to a waiting Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck. The Juvenile Detention Center employee that accompanied Beasley ran after him but an individual wearing a ski mask exited the pickup and indicated they had a gun. The unarmed detention employee did not engage further. Beasley fled in the Avalanche, which was recovered, burning, at 10:10 p.m. on Villa Place. It had been reported stolen.
At the time of his escape, Beasley was wearing a neck brace. He was injured late Saturday night after he jumped out of a moving, stolen 2019 Ford Raptor pickup truck on Dickerson Pike at Ben Allen Road. At a detention hearing for Beasley yesterday, the District Attorney filed a notice of intent to transfer Beasley’s charges to the adult system.
TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings), Violent Crimes Division, and Youth Services detectives worked throughout the night, pursuing leads which led to Beasley’s capture this morning.
The investigation continues in identifying other accomplice(s) to Beasley’s escape.
