A man has been charged after police say broke into a dorm room at Belmont University, according to WKRN.
Court documents state that 64-year-old Alexander Baxter was seen on surveillance video using a butter knife to break into a secured area of Belmont University’s campus on January 22, 2023.
Court records also stated that Baxter then broke into a dorm room while the victim was inside sleeping and stole a wallet and Belmont ID.
Baxter was arrested and charged with burglary and being in possession of burglary tools on February 20, 2023.
As officers were detaining Baxter, Metro police say they located a butter knife, a Belmont ID and the clothing that Baxter was seen wearing on security footage the night of the alleged burglary.
His bond has been set at $55,000.
