January 7, 2023 – The driver involved in a single-car crash at 2:25 a.m. on I-24 East between Briley Parkway and the I-65 split has died this morning. The preliminary investigation indicates the 45-year-old male driver of a Ford F350 went off the left side of the roadway into the center median, struck a pole and then an overhead sign support before coming to rest.
There were no signs of impairment at the scene.
The driver was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Efforts are underway to notify his family.
