October 4, 2023 – The months-long investigation into the January 28th murder of Jamal Moore, 30, on Cherokee Avenue in East Nashville, which involved cell phone data analysis and DNA science, led to today’s arrest of Jordan Christopher Thompson, 23, on a charge of criminal homicide.
Moore split his time between North Carolina and Nashville. His body was found in a grassy area of 810 Cherokee Avenue, across the street from a condo he owned, at noon on January 28th. He had suffered a stab wound to his neck and blunt force injuries consistent with being runover by a vehicle. Moore’s car was found a short time later abandoned at a self-storage facility on Gallatin Avenue.
The investigation, led by Detective Tim Skopek, determined that the victim met Thompson through a social networking app the day before the homicide. It is alleged that the two then met in person at Cleveland Park and traveled in Moore’s car to Cherokee Avenue, where Moore was killed.
A judicial commissioner ordered that Thompson be held without bond pending a hearing.
