January 23, 2024 – Two men and a juvenile were arrested Sunday night after police say they were in the Castleman Drive and Cantrell Avenue neighborhoods pulling on auto door handles looking to burglarize vehicles.

A homeowner on Cantrell Avenue caught them breaking into a vehicle and fired a shot into the ground to scare them away. They fled in a small silver sedan with a temp tag, apparently firing two shots themselves. Detectives spotted the car and, with the assistance of an MNPD helicopter, followed it to the dead end of 25th Avenue North and Osage Street where it stopped. The front seat passenger, Juma Ismail, 21, jumped out and fled. The helicopter crew saw him toss an object as he ran. Ismail was apprehended after a foot chase. A pistol was recovered from his path.

The driver, Louis Ramadhan, 19, and a 14-year-old remained in the car, where a second gun was found. Witnesses from the neighborhood identified Ismail and the 14-year-old as breaking into the victim’s car on Cantrell Avenue.

Ramadhan is charged with facilitating vehicle burglary, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and driving without a license. Ismail is charged with evading arrest, vehicle burglary, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 14-year-old is charged with vehicle burglary, unlawful gun possession and juvenile curfew violation.
