1Black on Buchanan: A Juneteenth Block Party

The Equity Alliance’s Black on Buchanan is a vibrant display of Blackness in North Nashville. Black on Buchanan is a celebration of Black joy, excellence, freedom and the fight for Black liberation. The block party is hosted in an area that is home and refuge to generations of Black Nashvillians.

3Juneteenth Freedom Day Ride – Nashville

Come ride for the Juneteenth Freedom Day bike ride on Saturday June 17th at 6:45 am starting at Frankie Pierce Park in Nashville, TN! The organizations involved in this year’s event are Bike For Equality, Black Girls Do Bike, Oasis Bike Works, Walk Bike Nashville, Music City Dope Peddlers and Nashville Black Wellness Collective. There will be a 25-mile self-guided marked route and a 10-mile group/family ride led by the Music City Dope Peddlers. Each registration comes with a ride pin and number and an event T-shirt. There will be raffles and giveaways at the event and snacks and water along the ride.

4Juneteenth Movie Viewing

Join the library for a Juneteenth Movie Viewing! Quest Love’s film “Summer of Soul: Or When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised” will be screened. This is a free event and food will be provided! The movie being shown is rated PG-13.

5Juneteenth Landscape of Enslavement Guided Grounds Tours

Travellers Rest Historic House Museum
636 Farrell Parkway Nashville

In honor of Juneteenth, join Travellers Rest for a special guided grounds tour: The Landscape of Enslavement. This guided outdoor tour focuses on the lives of those who were enslaved at Travellers Rest and those who lived and worked there post-emancipation. Led by Director of Interpretation, Chad Burgess, this 45-minute tour will discuss information about both enslaved and emancipated individuals that lived and worked at Travellers Rest during the 19th century.

The Landscape of Enslavement Tours will take place on June 17th at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. These are outdoor tours, so please dress accordingly for the weather. Should inclement weather require postponement of the program, they will communicate with ticket purchasers at least 12 hours prior to your tour start time.

In addition to the grounds tour, guests can enjoy a complimentary house tour either before or after their scheduled grounds tour. House tours take approximately 1 hour and will need to be scheduled prior to your chosen grounds tour.
