December 29, 2024 – A convicted felon is in custody after he was found to be the owner of a social media account sending death threats to retired Davidson County Judge Stanley Kweller. Michael Wortham, 31, was arrested early this morning by TITANS Unit detectives while sleeping in his car in Old Hickory.

Specialized Investigations Division detectives began an investigation into the threating messages this past May as they were believed to be related to a January 2024 custody decision where Wortham lost his parental rights. Kweller retired from the bench shortly after presiding over that particular case.

Throughout the course of the investigation, it was confirmed that Wortham’s phone number was linked to the Facebook account sending the harassing messages.

Wortham, who was believed to be residing out of state, was entered into a national database after two felony warrants were recently sworn out against him. MNPD detectives worked to obtain any license plate reader information on Wortham’s vehicle that could indicate he was heading to Nashville. His vehicle hit on an Arkansas LPR Saturday.

Wortham was located inside the vehicle in the area of his last known Davidson County address. He was booked on his outstanding warrants for aggravated stalking and retaliation for past action.
