June 30, 2025 – Youth Services detectives continue to investigate Monday’s apparent accidental/self-inflicted shooting that critically injured a 2-year-11-month-old boy inside his Elizabeth Jordan Street home.
The child’s mother reported going to sleep after returning from work and being awakened around noon by a loud bang. She rushed into a bedroom to find her son with a gunshot wound to his head. She and the child’s father drove him to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where he remains in extremely critical condition. A nine-millimeter pistol was recovered.
The investigation will be staffed with the District Attorney’s Office upon completion.
The MNPD would like to remind gun owners that free gunlocks are available at MNPD Headquarters, all eight precincts and the Records Division public counter in Madison.
