Chief John Drake has announced the appointments and promotions of 29 police department veterans into new leadership roles effective Thursday.
“I am excited for these 29 men and women as they have demonstrated their commitment to the safety of Nashville’s residents, while at the same time going through our internal testing processes to advance their law enforcement careers,” Chief Drake said.
Appointed to the position of Inspector is Dayton Wheeler, a 14-year police department veteran who presently serves as Commander of the Midtown Hills Precinct. As an Inspector, Wheeler will assist in the administration of the Community Services Bureau, which includes all eight precincts. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from MTSU.
Appointed to the position of Commander is Sean Richmond, a 15-year police department veteran who currently oversees the Youth Services Division. As a Commander, Richmond will direct operations of the Midtown Hills Precinct. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s Degree from Argosy University.
Promoted to the rank of Captain is Rachael Reese, an 11-year police department veteran who is currently assigned to the Office of Alternative Policing Strategies. As a Captain, Reese will lead the department’s Family Intervention Program. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Austin Peay State University.
Also promoted to the rank of Captain is Michael Vaughn, a 16-year police department veteran who will lead the department’s Background and Recruiting Section, where he is currently assigned as a lieutenant. Vaughn holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Central State University.
Six sergeants are being promoted to the rank of lieutenant. They include:
Kimberly Annson, an 8-year police department veteran who is currently at Hermitage Precinct Investigations. As a Lieutenant, Annson will be a supervisor in the Office of Alternative Policing Strategies. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University.
Kimberly Brown, a 10-year police department veteran who is currently an East Precinct supervisor. As a Lieutenant, Brown will lead the Midtown Hills Precinct’s overnight shift. Brown holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Auburn University.
Raymond Heymann, a 10-year police department veteran who is currently a supervisor in the Youth Services Division. As a Lieutenant, Heymann will transition to the Special Victims Division. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Harding University.
Julie Nabors, an 8-year police department veteran who will continue to be a supervisor in the department’s Background & Recruiting Section. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Central State University.
Brad Nave, a 19-year police department veteran who is currently a supervisor at the Madison Precinct. As a Lieutenant, Nave will lead the West Precinct’s overnight detail. Nave holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Baylor University.
Meghan Pope, a 7-year police department veteran who is now a supervisor in the Human Resources Office. As a Lieutenant, Pope will oversee special projects in the Community Services Bureau. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Buffalo.
Nineteen officers are being promoted to the rank of sergeant. They include:
Kevin Clausius, a 7-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the North Precinct’s day shift.
Brian Demarce, a 5-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Central Precinct’s evening shift. Demarce holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Minnesota.
Mike Dixon, a 25-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor assigned to Dignitary Protection. Dixon holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Cumberland University.
Theodore Flick, a 5-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Central Precinct’s evening shift. Flick holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University.
Brian Gant, a 16-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the North Precinct’s overnight shift.
Samuel Fredericks, a 6-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct’s overnight shift. Fredericks holds an Associate’s Degree from McHenry County College.
Chad High, a 20-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct’s day shift. High holds a Bachelor’s Degree from MTSU.
Matthew Jankiewicz, a 6-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s overnight shift.
Natalia Johnson, a 5-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor within the Police Activities League. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Sacramento State University and Master’s Degrees from California University of Pennsylvania and Cumberland University.
Wallis Massey, a 10-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift. Massey holds a Bachelor’s Degree from MTSU.
Janelle Moss, a 7-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the South Precinct’s day shift. Moss holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Pensacola Christian College.
Brian Murphy, a 27-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Madison Precinct’s evening shift. Murphy holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Aquinas College.
Hillary Sherman, a 7-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the East Precinct’s overnight shift. Sherman holds an Associate’s Degree from Nashville State Community College.
Tim Skopek, a 6-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the East Precinct’s overnight shift. Skopek has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Scranton.
James T. Smith, a 10-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s evening shift. Smith holds a Bachelor’s Degree from MTSU.
Samuel Sundra, a 7-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the West Precinct’s evening shift. Sundra holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Derrick Toney, an 8-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift. Toney holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Union Alliance.
Eric Wegener, a 6-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Central Precinct’s overnight shift. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Austin Peay State University.
Brian Zullo, an 8-year police department veteran who will be a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct’s evening shift.
