Travelers at Nashville International Airport should plan for temporary changes this week as part of an ongoing expansion project.

Airport officials say the Pedestrian Bridge on Level 5 will be closed overnight from April 6 through April 10, between 8 p.m. and 3:30 a.m., to allow for the removal of the large-scale art installation “The Unscalable Rampart of Time” by artist Jacob Hashimoto. During these closures, passengers will need to use Level 1 to travel between the terminal and parking garages, with signage directing them to alternate routes.

The artwork is being taken down and stored ahead of the airport’s Central Core Enhancement project, which is set to begin June 1. While the removal process will continue through April, officials say additional bridge closures will not be required after this phase.

Plans call for the installation to be modified and reinstalled once construction is complete, with the project expected to wrap up in December 2027.

The Central Core Enhancement is part of BNA’s broader New Horizon expansion program, aimed at increasing capacity to serve up to 40 million passengers annually in the future.
