A continuing investigation into last October’s nighttime robbery and sexual assault of a man inside a restroom of Rose Park at 1000 Edgehill Avenue has led to the arrest of Kijuan Wilson, 18, on charges of aggravated rape, aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping. Because Wilson was 17 at the time, the charges have been filed in Juvenile Court.

The 25-year-old victim reported that he was followed into the public restroom last October 19th by a man wearing a white hoodie. The victim reported the man pulled a gun, demanded that he empty his pockets, and then sexually assaulted him. More Crime!

Wilson was developed as a suspect in this case last year, but Sex Crimes detectives did not have enough evidence to make an arrest.

In January of this year, Violent Crimes detectives arrested Wilson in an unrelated case on charges of vehicle theft, contributing to the delinquency of minors, and evading arrest. His DNA was obtained then. Laboratory analysis of Wilson’s DNA showed that it matched DNA recovered from the victim in last October’s rape case. A Juvenile Court arrest order for Wilson was issued this week.

Tuesday night, Violent Crimes Division detectives located Wilson, who was free on bond from the January arrest, riding in a vehicle. He was followed to his Brickdale Lane residence and taken into custody. Under his seat in the car was a Glock semi-automatic pistol that was reported stolen in a vehicle burglary on Westfield Drive in December 2021. The gun was loaded with 32 rounds from an extended magazine.

Sex Crimes Detective Jaby Djabbarov has been leading the rape/robbery investigation since last October.
