A man is facing charges after police say he shot and wounded a clerk at the Mapco convenience store at 3900 Lebanon Pike Monday night.
Police say Jordi Matos-Espinoza, 18, entered the market just after 9:30 p.m. The 34-year-old clerk reported that he recognized the person as someone who had stolen from the market previously.
The clerk said he approached the individual, who backed out of the door and pulled a pistol from his waistband. Shots were fired and the clerk was wounded in the hip and finger.
Matos-Espinoza surrendered to police downtown Tuesday. He is now charged with attempted criminal homicide, felony reckless endangerment, use of a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony, and vandalism. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $150,000.
