Safe Haven Family Shelter, the premier shelter-to-housing program for families experiencing homelessness in Middle Tennessee, will host its 20th Annual Hike for Safe Haven on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. at Percy Warner Park (7100 Highway 100).
“As we prepare for the 20th year of the Hike for Safe Haven, the need to serve families experiencing homelessness continues to grow,” said Safe Haven CEO Drew Freeman. “Through the Hike, we have the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with our supporters to give more families a place to call home.”
The funds raised during the Hike will support Safe Haven efforts to serve the more than 330 local families experiencing homelessness in our community this year. The Hike attracts hundreds of attendees each year and is known for being a fun-packed pet and family-friendly event that includes hiking on mostly paved trails, food, music, children’s activities and more. The event is free and open to the public, with no entry fee or minimum donation to participate. Hikers who donate $40 or more will receive a t-shirt, and hikers are encouraged to team up and fundraise to increase their impact.
Event co-chairs include Richard Courtney, Fridrich & Clark Realty; and Heather Coffelt, Brasfield & Gorrie; and Kitty Barro, Totally Mushrooms and Healthcare Integrated Technologies Inc.; and Addison Nunes, Warner Music Nashville. Presenting sponsors include Amazon and Curb Records.
For those who cannot attend the event, Safe Haven is encouraging hikers to “Hike Your Way” in your neighborhood or on a favorite trail. All participants are encouraged to share photos and videos on social media. To register or to learn more, visit hikeforsafehaven.org.
