A crash involving an ambulance from Robertson County Emergency Medical Services prompted an emergency response in Nashville, with officials reporting only minor injuries.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon as Medic 10 from the Springfield station was transporting a patient to TriStar Skyline Medical Center. Authorities say the ambulance was struck on the passenger side at an intersection along Dickerson Road, just south of Old Hickory Boulevard.
Emergency crews from the Nashville Fire Department and Metro Nashville Police Department responded to the scene. Patient care was transferred to Nashville Fire EMS, which continued transport to the hospital.
Officials say the two paramedics inside the ambulance did not require transport, and the driver of the other vehicle also declined medical transport at the scene. All injuries reported were minor.
The ambulance involved has been taken out of service and will undergo a full safety inspection, including checks of its stretcher systems and onboard equipment. A properly equipped reserve unit has been placed into service to ensure there is no disruption in emergency response coverage for the community.
