Homicide detectives have not ruled out a potential drug motive in Monday night’s fatal shooting of a 19-year-old and the critical wounding of a 14-year-old in the area of a baseball field adjacent to 26th Avenue North and Salem Mason Drive.

The deceased is identified as Michael Adams of Crutcher Street in East Nashville. The 14-year-old, who is being treated at Vanderbilt, is identified as Cordarion Hall of S. 7th Street in East Nashville. Detectives have not yet determined why Adams and Hall were at the baseball field six miles from the area in which they live on a Monday night.

Officers responded to a shooting call shortly before 8 p.m. and found Adams deceased in a yard on Salem Mason Drive. Hall was found a short time later on the baseball field. There were shell casings near him. It is believed that Adams was running away when he was shot and then collapsed in the yard.

Homicide and TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) detectives are in the process of learning more about the friends and associates of the two victims as they work to identify the person(s) responsible for the gunfire.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
