October 20, 2022 – The 17-year-old driver involved in today’s single-car fatal crash on Briley Parkway will be charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and two counts of aggravated assault when he is discharged from the hospital.

The girl killed in the crash is presumed to be a 14-year-old. Due to the extent of her injuries, her identity has not yet been confirmed. Two other teens in the car, a 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, have non-life threatening injuries.

The crash occurred shortly before noon on Briley Parkway South just past the Two Rivers Parkway exit. The 2003 Honda Accord was traveling extremely fast when the 17-year-old lost control in a curve. The car crossed all four lanes of travel and left the roadway. It came to rest in a wood line.

The 17-year-old showed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming four beers prior to the crash.
