December 14, 2022 – A 14-year-old is charged in Juvenile court with carjacking after he removed a 4-year-old boy from a Chevrolet Cruze Tuesday at 5:40 p.m. and drove off. The car had been left running and unattended outside a strip mall at 847 Hamilton Crossing. The child was left on the sidewalk, unharmed.

When the child’s mother saw what had happened, she called police. A police helicopter pilot located the car and followed while relaying information to ground units below. Officers successfully deployed spike strips in the 1100 block of Bell Road. The teen fled on foot and was taken into custody. During an interview, he admitted that he took the car after removing the child.

The MNPD reminds Nashvillians to lock their automobile doors and remove the keys. A vehicle left running and unattended, even for a brief time, can be easily stolen.
