Woman Charged with Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication for March Crash

Lindsay R. Russell, 31, the at-fault driver in a March rear-end collision on I-40 east near the airport that killed her passenger surrendered today at the Downtown Detention Center on a grand jury indictment charging her with vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular assault, and violation of the open container law.

Russell was driving a Honda Civic with Morgan Graves, 26, as her front seat passenger when she collided with the rear of a Ford Edge SUV at 1:30 a.m. on March 6. Graves, who was not wearing her seatbelt, died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Russell was not critically hurt.

Russell’s blood alcohol content was found to be .179%. The legal limit is .08%.
