TriStar Skyline Medical Center has announced its state-designation as a level one trauma center.
As the highest-level designation for trauma centers, the hospital is equipped to handle life-threatening injuries and critically ill patients. For the past year, TriStar Skyline served as a provisional level one trauma center treating thousands of trauma patients from Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to enhance life-saving trauma care at TriStar Skyline,” said Brian Marger, chief executive officer at TriStar Skyline. “As the Middle Tennessee region continues to grow, so does the need for expanded healthcare. We’re proud to serve our community and first responders with advanced trauma care in Nashville and beyond.”
“Every second counts in trauma care,” said Dr. Darrell Hunt, medical director of trauma services. “We’re committed to providing fast, comprehensive care to our community when they need us most. We see patients on the worst day of their lives, and it is our job to come alongside them with compassion and expert care.”
TriStar Skyline is advancing trauma care at the hospital with growth in its trauma research program, as well as serving as a teaching hospital. The hospital welcomed 20 new graduate medical education residents in several specialties this year, including emergency medicine.
In addition to its trauma program, TriStar Skyline offers specialties to compliment care for patients, including a burn center, a neuroscience center and an accredited chest pain center with PCI.
