June 27, 2025 – Domestic Violence detectives early today arrested and charged MNPD officer Amgad Bekhit, 42, with aggravated assault stemming from an argument with his 16-year-old daughter inside their home that turned from verbal to physical.
The argument was over Bekhit’s disagreement with his daughter’s relationship with a teenage boy. The daughter alleged that her father struck her and attempted to choke her with one hand for a few seconds. Responding officers saw that the daughter had marks on her face, neck and hands. She was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
A judicial commissioner set Bekhit’s bond at $10,000. He was decommissioned during the night and is the subject of an administrative investigation by the Office of Professional Accountability.
Bekhit has been with the police department for four years and prior to this morning was assigned to MDHA (public housing) support.
