Wilma Lobb Hearn passed away on Thursday, January 23rd at the age of 92.
Born to Howard and Della Lobb, on August 16, 1932, in Greene County, Kentucky.
Wilma is survived by sister, Delores Murray of St. Augustine, FL and brother, Monty Lobb (Myrna) of Glendale, Ohio. Her children Cheryl Ellis, Tim (Kim) Heaberlin, and Mac (Rhonda) Heaberlin reside in Williamson County, TN. Wilma was a proud grandmother to Zach (Meg) Heaberlin, Reiley (Ryan) Eilermann, Madison (Logan) Dugger and Logan Heaberlin. Her great-grandchildren include Jackson and Miller Heaberlin, Ruby June Eilermann, Caroline and River Dugger.
Wilma was a graduate of Trevecca High School and College. She received her master’s degree from George Peabody. Her teaching career started in Kansas City, Missouri but the majority of her time was in the Metro Nashville Public Schools at Tusculum Elementary. Wilma was a lifelong learner, never afraid to try new instructional styles.
Wilma served in several areas of leadership at her beloved Nashville First Church of the Nazarene. She worked with the ladies’ ministry, taught in the singles department, acted as Missionary President, sat on the church board and was the teacher of the Ambassadors Sunday School Class for 30+ years. Always faithful in attendance, service, and giving – Wilma was the epitome of someone with a servant’s heart.
In 1987, Wilma officially became Jim Hearn’s “girl” – after dating for 10 years. They were a loving couple who shared life and faith. They were committed to their church and the people in their Sunday School class. She and Jim also enjoyed many years in the bleachers at Trevecca. She loved basketball and was an avid purple and white fan. Not only did she support them on the court but was also as a generous donor.
Wilma was also a true-blue fan to the sports her grandchildren participated in – baseball, football, softball, basketball, lacrosse, and rugby. She was always in the stands, wearing her famous multicolored jacket. Wilma was a great example of a supportive Mimi.
Wilma had many interests. She loved travel and participated in many mission trips. Always ready for dinner with friends, a birthday party for the great-grands or a family reunion. Being with the people she loved was her greatest joy. Wilma took up quilting later in life, managing to gift quilts to her children and grandchildren. Each quilt unique, like her love for each family member.
Friend is the best word to describe Wilma. Someone who is kind, compassionate, sensitive, dependable. Some who talks proudly about you in the company of others. Someone who encourages. She leaves behind a wonderful heritage of faith, love and friendship.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15th at First Church of the Nazarene – 510 Woodland Street, Nashville, TN. Visitation will be from 10-11 with the service to follow. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
