Veachel proudly joined the United States Marine Corps in February of 1954, serving as a tank operator during the Korean War. His time in service shaped his character, instilling in him a strong sense of duty and perseverance. After leaving the military, Veachel met the love of his life, Rose, and they were married on December 21st, 1962. Together, they raised four beautiful daughters, who were the pride and joy of his life.
Veachel had many passions, and anyone who knew him could easily recognize his love for race cars, fishing, and mechanics. He was often seen tinkering with engines or reminiscing about his time working on race cars. His old red boat, which he happily offered to anyone who wanted to join him for a fishing trip, became a symbol of his generosity and love for spending time with those he cared about.
A devoted member of Rivergate Church of Christ, Veachel took great pride in his faith and was always eager to support the church and its ministry. His unwavering dedication to his beliefs was evident in every aspect of his life.
Above all, Veachel will be remembered for his giving heart, the love he showed to his family, and the quiet strength he provided. We will always cherish the sound of his comforting words, “I am alright,” and the reassurance that came with them. We could not have asked for a better husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Veachel’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who loved him, and though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to guide and inspire us every day.
