Travis Berry, age 40 of Nashville, TN, passed away on July 30, 2021.
Travis was a beloved son, brother, friend, and companion. Travis was a lover of music and a talented musician. He played guitar, trumpet, keyboard, and drums. Some of our fondest memories are of him randomly grabbing a guitar and playing rock and roll. He brought joy to many through his music. He was a Christian and follower of Christ throughout his life. He combined his love of God and music by often participating in music ministry at church.
Travis attended Lebanon High School in Lebanon, TN. He was a special part of their band family and graduated with honors. He earned first chair playing trumpet, participated in many jazz and marching band state competitions, even once performing for Vice President Al Gore. He appeared in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students 1997-1998.” Travis was honored by being selected to attend Governor’s School at MTSU and went on to earn a full-ride scholarship to Cumberland University playing trumpet. His jazz band performances were especially endearing to his family.
He enjoyed playing tennis, working on cars and was a wonderful cook. He was clever and quick to make a joke. He was a fun-loving and generous spirit. He would give you the shirt off his back and could turn five dollars into five thoughtful presents. He was always eager to help friends, family, and strangers.
Tragically, Travis battled mental health illness for the last 20 years of his life. We are so thankful for his loving presence in our lives and the beautiful memories we shared. In our grief, we pray that he is finally at peace and his soul set free. We hope he is rejoicing with his loved ones who went before him. Travis will be missed greatly, each and every day until he welcomes us home.
