OBITUARY: Scott Cain

Scott Cain, 53, of Nashville, TN, passed away far too soon, leaving behind a family who adored him and a world made brighter by his presence. Born January 18, 1972, to John and Doris Cain, Scott was the oldest of three boys and the unofficial ringleader of laughter, pranks, and love in the Cain household.

He spent over 30 years working alongside his family at CSSI, proudly serving businesses and families across Middle Tennessee – always with a handshake, a joke, or a story that made you feel like you’d known him forever. Scott had a love-hate thing going with golf, but he was an excellent bowler – and rolled his first perfect 300 game in February 2023. He loved traveling (especially cruises), fishing, and cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. But his favorite team? His girls. He was their loudest supporter at every softball and bowling match, always hollering “Atta baby!” from the stands like only a proud dad can.

Scott’s proudest titles were husband, dad, and “Pops.” He loved his family with everything he had. He was the guy who showed up, who made you laugh even when you didn’t want to, and who could fill a room with warmth just by walking into it. His dad jokes were awful – like, truly bad – but somehow always landed. And that smile? You couldn’t help but smile back.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Jolene; daughters Hannah Yeager (Shawn), Madeline Cain (Kyle), and Miranda Cain (Kam); and his granddaughter, Haelynn, who lit up his world. He also leaves behind his parents, John and Doris Cain; brothers Mark Cain (Amanda) and Jonathan Cain (Misty); brother in law Jim Marcelak (Kathy) and a whole crew of nieces and nephews who thought the world of him – Hunter, Holly, Mark Jr., Malaina, Michael, Tommy, Hailey, Alexis, Emma and Garrett. He was preceded in death by nephew Joseph Marcelak.

Scott also leaves behind a plethora of friends – the kind who felt more like family. Whether you knew him for a lifetime or just a moment, he made you feel seen, supported, and like you had a place in his circle. Scott’s life was full of love, laughter, and loud Roll Tides. He will be missed more than words can say – but we know he’s somewhere cracking a joke and cheering on the Tide from above.

In honor of Scott’s love for Alabama football, the family invites guests to wear Alabama colors or anything Crimson Tide-related to the service. Scott would’ve loved seeing a sea of red and white – and maybe even a few “Roll Tides” along the way.
