Sandra-Wilson

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Sandra Wilson, affectionately known as Nanny, who departed this life surrounded by the family she held so dear. Born on September 20, 1940, Sandra lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and deep devotion to those she loved.

Sandra was the beloved daughter of Esther Schnupp Read and Kelly Read, who preceded her in death. Their memory lived on in her heart and guided her as she became the strong and loving matriarch of her own growing family.

She was the devoted mother of Melanie Maples (Bob Boer), Carolyn (Darrell) Huey, Troy Stout (Tee Johnson), and Gina (Randy) Brown. Her greatest pride was her family, and her love only grew with the births of her grandchildren: Misty (Fletcher) Bolling, Krista (Josh) Odum, Dustin (Maghan) Cox, Casey (Travis) Spaw, Dillon Cox, Tiffany Harrell, Courtney (Josh) Hesson, Samantha Stout (Hunter Major), and Sophia Brown.

That love continued through her many great-grandchildren: Cameron Dempsey, Madison Dempsey, Hannah Bolling, Ansleigh Odum, Harlow Odum, Willow Odum, Lily Ryan Cox, Josie Mae Cox, Beckham Spaw, Ryman Spaw, Kingston Spaw, Gabriella Cox, William Harrell, Preston Hesson, Elijah Hesson, and Rayleigh Hesson.

Nanny also lovingly embraced her step-grandchildren as her own: Darrell Huey, Ian Boer, Lindsey Byrne, Brady Byrne, Mattie Johnson, and Abby Johnson. Each of them held a special place in her heart.

Sandra was the heart of her family and the soul of every gathering. She will forever be remembered as the best cook around, delighting everyone with her famous pumpkin bread and homemade spaghetti. Her kitchen was always open, her table always full, and her heart always welcoming.

Nanny’s love went far beyond food—she was a caretaker, a comforter, and a constant source of strength. Whether offering a warm hug, wise words, or a second helping, she knew just how to make everyone feel at home.

Visitation will take place at Anderson & Garrett Funeral Home on Monday, April 28th from 3 P.M. until 7 P.M. and again on Tuesday, April 29th from 9 A.M. until the time of Service at 11 A.M. https://www.andersonandgarrett.com

Interment follows at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in the countless memories she leaves behind—the warmth of her kitchen, the sound of her laughter, and the deep love that will continue to guide her family for generations.

In her honor, we encourage you to cook something special, share it with someone you love, and remember Nanny with every bite.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Nanny.
